Nvidia is ready to acquire the most popular chip designer in the world, Arm for $40 billion. This will put Nvidia on the top in the semiconductor industry. In the past, Nvidia has also developed several products based on ARM like the Tegra chips for Nintendo Switch.
Arm powers nearly every smartphone or tablet, supplying chip designs to players like Qualcomm, AMD, and Apple.
According to reports, Arm’s open licensing model will remain active after the acquisition and its Headquater will remain in Cambridge England. Moreover, the company will keep functioning as a separate division in Nvidia.
It will be interesting to see Nvidia’s products and services for the future, especially in the mobile chipset sector.
