Huawei is in hot waters after Samsung and LG’s decision to withdraw from the display supply deal due to US restriction. In recent developments, the US administration has tightened restrictions against Huawei in response to the company’s policy in relaxing business relations with other companies.
Huawei’s strategy was to engage other companies to overcome dependence on Google. A few days back, the company launched TomTom Go navigation in its App Gallery as part of this strategy.
In a statement to Reuters, LG Display said that the U.S. restrictions will have a minimal impact on the company as it supplies a limited number of panels to Huawei. Samsung Display, on the other hand, declined to comment on the matter. The company used OLED panels from Samsung on its flagship devices like Huawei P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro.
The unavailability of Samsung’s OLED panel will have a huge impact on the quality of Huawei’s future flagship displays. It will be interesting to see how Huawei and US Gov. relations will turn in the next few months.
